COMFORT MY PEOPLE
The phrase “comfort my people” comes from Isaiah 40:1-2. “Comfort, comfort my people, says your God. Speak tenderly to Jerusalem, and cry to her, that her warfare is ended, that her iniquity is pardoned, that she has received from the Lord’s hand double for all her sins.” What many believers miss is the small phrase (“Comfort…”), which God repeats for emphasis, and is a command to His followers. For centuries, though, it has been ignored. The King of the universe invited all people to participate in that call, yet only a remnant responded. The effect of centuries of neglect has resulted in tragic consequences to a people, as well as a residual deficiency in the church. Today, the Jew is considered an unreached people group. The indigenous Believers within Israel are a tiny fraction of the population, numbering less than .05%. It was never intended to be that way.
