AWANA stands for Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed ( 2 Timothy 2:15 ). The goal of AWANA is to reach elementary-age students for Christ, to train them to understand and rightly handle the Word of truth, to love Him, and to love others, all in a context of fun and excitement.

Cubbies / Early Preschool Ministry

Cubbies celebrates the spiritual potential of preschoolers (3-5-year-olds) by helping them develop respect for God, His Son, and His Word.

Sparks / Elementary Ministry

Sparks ignites the curiosity of early elementary-age kids K-2 to learn about the people and events of the Bible, building a foundation of wisdom for knowing Christ.

T&T / Elementary Ministry

The T&T (Truth & Training) curriculum teaches kids in grades 3rd-6th the truth of God’s Word and trains them to follow Him and practice His grace.

Ottumwa Community Church is happy to announce our 13th year of our AWANA club this fall. We are looking forward to this 2022/2023 season. Our AWANA chartered church offers a Wednesday evening Bible-nurturing ministry based on scripture memory for children aged 3 years through 6th grade from 6:00-8:00 p.m. that focuses on learning God’s Word and the Gospels in a fun atmosphere. Our clubbers learn about the reality of God and the truth of the Bible.

Each week, AWANA provides consistent, positive teaching and training that stresses strong moral and spiritual values. AWANA staff and leaders are trained and background checked. Leaders together with parents create a spiritually nurturing environment to help kids grow in their knowledge of scripture and their walk of faith.

We Offer Three Clubs

Truth and Training 3rd – 6th grades

Our club meets from 6:00 – 8:00 but we offer a meal that starts at 5:15.

knowing growing going for all

Knowing | Growing | Going

We are a body of believers that believe in the fundamental need and desire of the heart to know God. We believe that after knowing Christ, there is a desire to grow into a mature follower of Christ and finally we believe there is a desire to share the wonderful news of the Savior with others.

What We Believe

Father | Son | Holy Spirit

In one God, Creator of all things, infinitely perfect and eternally existing in three persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
